Three Detained In Attempt To Smuggle Out Cooking Gas

TAWAU – Three men were detained in an attempt to smuggle out 50 canisters of cooking gas to Indonesia yesterday.

They were detained separately in a joint operation between the Tawau Marine Police Force and the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry off Tanjung Batu.

Tawau Region 4 Marine Police Force commanding officer DSP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the first suspect was caught attempting to smuggle out six canisters of cooking gas, while the second and third suspects, 17 and 27 canisters of the cooking gas, respectively.

“The value of the 50 canisters of gas that were seized in three boats is RM103,570,” he said in a statement here today.

He said the three suspects, aged between 20 and 50, would be charged under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act. – BERNAMA
