SUBANG JAYA: Police are on the hunt for a group of thieves who made off with half-a-million ringgit from a house in SS19 here.
District police chief Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the group, comprising about three people, entered the house through the backyard on July 17.
The victim, a 41-year-old businessman, and his wife had returned from attending an open house at night, when they noticed their belongings missing.
“We believe this was the work of experts, as they managed to disable the security system.
“We will scrutinise the closed-circuit television footage and fingerprints for leads on the case,” said ACP Yahaya.
ACP Yahaya said the thieves took off with RM500,000 worth of loot, including various foreign currencies, jewellery and luxury watches from the master bedroom.
“The businessman regularly goes overseas for business, which is why there were various currencies in his possession,” he said.
ACP Yahaya said police were still ascertaining the time of the theft.
