SINTOK – An animation film ‘The Cliff House’ was named the winner of the ‘Best of The Best’ award at the Asian Youth Indie Film Festival 2018 (AYIFF’18) Gala Night held at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) last night.
The award was presented by the Tunku Temenggong Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, who is also UUM pro-chancellor.
The film, produced by Universiti Multimedia students – Wong Jin Yao, Tan Lih Haur, Woon Chee Khai and Kong Wei Cheng – also won the the award for the ‘Best Animation Film’.
Meanwhile, for the Best Narrative Film category, it was won by Koyak Tiket Films Productions through “Falasi”, Best Documentary (Universiti Malaysia Sarawak through ‘Di Sebalik Orang Hijau’) and Best Music Video by KDU University College, Penang, through “King”.
“Fake Cosmetic” by Universiti Malaysia Perlis won the category for Best Community Service Message, while for the ‘Promising Young Mind’ category, which is specially for school students, it was won by Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tok Janggut, Kelantan, through ‘Jiran’.
AYIFF’18 was organised to appreciate and honour the work of students and Indie artists in film and animation, as well as to hone the talent of young and upcoming artists.
It was held for two days, since Monday, at UUM and attracted 70 participation, including from the Philippines, India and Singapore.
The event was attended by more than 5,000 guests who included artistes and celebraties, including Mark Adam, Ismail Izzani, Black Hanifah, Jaclyn Victor, Pekin Ibrahim, Datuk Eizlan Yusof andRamli Sharip.
Also present were UUM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Mustapha Ishak and UUM pro-chancellor Tan Sri Osman Aroff. – BERNAMA
