HAT YAI – An arrest warrant has been issued for the owner of a Hat Yai dormitory who allegedly attacked an 18-year-old student with a stun gun and raping her.
The man allegedly assaulted the girl in her rented room on April 11, and the Songkhla provincial court issued the arrest warrant on Friday.
The unnamed suspect, who is in his 40s, is wanted on charges of assault and rape, Hat Yai police superintendent Pol Colonel Kittichai Sangthaworn said.
The suspect had been has promised to speak to investigators.
The teenager, from Satun in south Thailand, had co-rented the room with a friend for extra lessons during school break in preparation for university entrance exams.
The victim was alone at 10am on April 11 when the accused came by, ostensibly to fix the toilet.
Her family filed a police complaint soon after the alleged rape.
On Thursday, the family provided police with additional information and sought the media’s help to bring the assailant to justice. – The Nation/Asia News Network
