MADINAH – Tabung Haji (TH) is preparing 600 of its staff to manage 22,320 Malaysian pilgrims during the haj season this year.
Head of the Malaysian Haj Delegation Datuk Syed Salleh Syed Abdul Rahman said on average eight TH staff would manage 3,200 pilgrims during the 45 days of haj between August and September.
He said the 600 staff were divided to two main group, namely the Wellbeing Group and the Health Group.
“The Wellbeing Group will comprise 350 staff from TH, as well as other agencies, such as the National Registration Department, Social Welfare Department, Armed Forces Religious Corps, Royal Malaysian Police and Haj facilitators.
“Whereas the Health Group will comprise 250 doctors and healthcare personnel,” he told the Malaysian media after checking the TH preparation for the haj season here today.
Syed Salleh said TH had also appointed 260 local residents in the Holy Land as Haj Assistants to help the Malaysian pilgrims.
He said a series of courses and skill trainings had been and would be given to those involved throughout the year before the beginning of the haj operation.
“This is aimed to produce haj staff who were competent, friendly, efficient and informative when dealing with the pilgrims at each of our stations, either in Malaysia or in the Holy Land,” he said.
The haj operation in Malaysia, he said would involve 250 TH staff and between 800 to 1,200 personnel from other relevant agencies. – BERNAMA
