MADINAH – Tabung Haji (TH) has opened eight counters here for Malaysian haj pilgrims to make withdrawals from their accounts and pay the ‘dam’ (penalty) and ‘korban’ (sacrifice) fees during the upcoming Haj season.
Tabung Haji 1438H financial operations director Anisuati Yahya said four of the counters are in the Anwar Al-Madinah Movenpick Hotel and four more at the Al-Haram Hotel here, and they have been open since last Saturday.
“Tabung Haji has also provided a mobile office at five locations which do not have a cash counter, but requests can be made there,” he said at a press conference here Monday.
Anisuati said the pilgrims could make cash withdrawals just by producing their name tags, with daily transactions of up to SR5,000.
“We conducted simulation exercises at the counters recently and there were no problems,” she said, adding that the conversion was according to the current rates (SR1 = RM1.14).
Anisuati said the counters would be open daily from 7 am to noon; 4.30 pm to 6 pm and 8 pm to 10 pm.
She said 45 counter staff would be based in Madinah and Makkah for this year’s haj season. – BERNAMA
