PETALING JAYA – The tussle between Terengganu and Johor over the postponement of the Malaysia Cup second leg quarterfinal match was settled when the Football Association of Malaysia decided to set Oct 16 as the new date.
The match between Terengganu and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will be played at the Larkin Stadium on Oct 16 instead of Oct 17 as announced earlier by the FAM when accepting JDT’s request to postpone the match that was initially scheduled on Oct 11.
Terengganu had questioned the FAM’s decision to change the date for the match without consulting them and refused to play the match on the date fixed by the FAM (Oct 17).
FAM deputy president Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah said the new date was agreed by representatives from both teams who met at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya, here today.
“The amicable settlement of the issue shows that we have leaders in the football circle who are capable of managing issues via discussions,” he said.
The first leg quarterfinal between Terengganu and JDT that was played at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu had ended in a goalless draw. – Bernama
