KUALA TERENGGANU – Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman has cut short his ‘umrah’ (minor pilgrimage) trip to be in flood-hit Terengganu to oversee the relief efforts.
Ahmad Razif, who returned here yesterday evening, hit out at those, including opposition party leaders, who had questioned his absence at a time when floods were ravaging the state.
He explained that he had made plans a long time ago to perform the umrah in mid-December.
He had also planned to fulfill a vow made over the then political instability in Terengganu and for his ailing (now late) father, he told reporters last night.
Ahmad Razif and his wife, Toh Puan Halina Zakaria, had earlier visited the flood relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Guntong, Tepoh, here and distributed aid to the 91 flood-victim families there. – BERNAMA
