KUALA TERENGGANU – The Terengganu government today announced a bonus of half-month salary with minimum payment of RM500 to its 9,719 employees.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said an allocation of about RM20 million had been set aside for the purpose and the payment would be made next month.
This is in appreciation of the contributions by the state civil servants, he said when tabling the 2015 Budget in the State Assembly today.
Meanwhile, when met by reporters, Ahmad Razif said the budget met the needs of all levels of the society, including trishaw-riders and traditional passenger boat operators.
“The trishaw-riders and traditional passenger boat operators are the front-liners in our tourism industry and because of that, the state government will given them an incentive of RM200 a month and it will be managed by Terengganu Tourism,” he added.
The state government, he said, was allocating RM30 million to build new home and repair houses of 1,300 recipients of the programme to enhance the people’s well-being.
“The state government also agreed to abolish interest in the monthly repayment of affordable homes and to extend the payment period up to 30 years with monthly payment of only RM189,” he added.
He said priority would be given to those with income of RM3,000 a month and below and yet to own a house.
A quota of 10 per cent will be allocated for single youths, he added. – BERNAMA
