IPOH: Two teenagers were saved from drowning at Ulu Chepor picnic site here today by firemen.
State Fire and Rescue Department chief Yahya Madis said the two 15-year-olds were caught in the suddenly risen river water.
“To ensure that they do not get swept away, they held on to branches near the river while waiting for help,” he said.
The department received a distress call at 4.10pm and a team from the Meru Raya station was dispatched to the scene.
“We managed to retrieve the teenagers using a rope before handing them over to their worried parents,” he said. Rescue operations were called off at 4.58pm.-NST
