POKOK SENA – A 15-year-old girl was among 81 people detained in an operation codenamed Op Sarang around Pokok Sena and Batu 13 near here, today on suspicion of being involved in drug-related activities.
Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department (CID) and Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (Sting) deputy commander Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said those detained were, aged between 15 and 57, including 78 males.
The two-day operation beginning 4pm yesterday involved collaboration with the Kedah CID and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), he told reporters after the operation.
Abdul Jalil said the police had also uncovered six major drug nests and confiscated various types of drugs, including 9.66 grammes of heroin, 2.27 grammes of syabu, 1.30 grammes of cannabis, 2,000 grammes of ketum leaves and two litres of ketum drink.
He said all the detainees would be brought to the Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters for urine screening test.
He also advised residents to report to the relevant authorities if drug abuse activities were detected in their area. – BERNAMA
