TAYLOR Swift has learned to Shake It Off, she even wrote a chart-topping hit about it, but in her new interview, she admits that she has suffered real heartbreak.
The blonde star, who has successfully made the switch from country to pop, discusses how she was able to write for her record-breaking album 1989 and how Clean was inspired by an ex-boyfriend – widely thought to be One Direction’s Harry Styles.
In the interview, Taylor is quizzed by her best pal Tavi Gevinson for the Women in Music issue for Elle magazine, where she recalls being in London and being inspired to write Clean as she stepped out of the iconic Liberty.
“Clean I wrote as I was walking out of Liberty in London. Someone I used to date-it hit me that I’d been in the same city as him for two weeks and I hadn’t thought about it,†she recalled.
“When it did hit me, it was like, Oh, I hope he’s doing well. And nothing else. And you know how it is when you’re going through heartbreak. A heartbroken person is unlike any other person. Their time moves at a completely different pace than ours. It’s this mental, physical, emotional ache and feeling so conflicted. Nothing distracts you from it.â€
She added: “Then time passes, and the more you live your life and create new habits, you get used to not having a text message every morning saying, ‘Hello, beautiful. Good morning.’â€
Taylor, who split from the One Direction hotty in January 2013 after a few months of dating, revealed that she was able to develop new habits and spent time with her girlfriends as she got over her heartache.
“The first thought that came to my mind was, I’m finally clean. I’d been in this media hailstorm of people having a very misconstrued perception of who I was,†she said.
Taylor is now reportedly dating DJ Calvin Harris, with the couple being seen getting close at a number of gigs. – Mirror
