PETALING JAYA: Former PAS member Datuk Tamrin Abdul Ghafar has announced his withdrawal from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Citizens’ Declaration secretariat.
Tamrin, who is the son of former deputy prime minister Ghafar Baba, also said that he will not be joining Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s new party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
“This decision is final. It is effective from today onwards,” said Tamrin in a statement on Friday.
The former Batu Berendam MP said that he had reached the decision after “careful thinking”.
However, he did not elaborate on the reason behind his decision.
Tamrin currently does not belong to any political party. He was previously a PAS member, but quit the party in 2014.
Before joining PAS, he was a member of Umno, but quit the party to join PAS in 2012.
