With yesterday’s declaration that the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 was an ‘accident’ and that all on board are now presumed in absentia (death without physical proof) Muslims across the country have been urged to conduct tahlil sessions after today’s prayers.
The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Datuk Othman Mustapha special tahlil sessions would be held at the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Masjid Putra, Putrajaya’s Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin along with all mosques under the supervision of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), Bernama reports.
“At the same time, all mosques under the administration of the State Islamic Religious Departments throughout Malaysia are requested to cooperate by taking similar initiatives,†he said in a statement.
Yesterday, in a much anticipated announcement on the jetliner that vanished on March 8 last year, Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) director-general Azharuddin Abdul Rahman announced that the Malaysian government has declared MH370 an ‘accident’ and that all 239 passengers and crew had lost their lives.
The Beijing-bound jet took off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) just after midnight and lost contact within an hour of taking off, sparking off one of the most intriguing mysteries in aviation history.MYNEWSHUB.CC
