KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Yuna today got engaged to Adam Yousof Sinclair at a event at her parents’ residence in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The event was attended by family members and close friends, Yuna Room Records said in a statement today.
Yuna or her real name Yunalis Zarai, 30, began her friendship with director Adam Sinclair, after working together on set for a commercial in early 2013.
Initially just friends, their relationship developed at the end of 2015.
By 2016, Yuna had introduced Adam to her parents, and she was also introduced to all of his family members.
Plans for engagement began after both parents have met each other for the first time on 27th March 2017, the statement read.
“Syukur Alhamdulillah, it was a beautiful engagement. I was very happy that everything went smoothly, and we had all of my family members & best friends attending the event,” Yuna said in the statement.
“The house was decorated beautifully, and we were very happy to host Adam’s lovely family in our home. I would like to thank all the fans for their well wishes and their prayers.
The singer said she is very happy that she met Adam.
“He has a wonderful heart, he’s very responsible and respectful of my parents, He is my best friend, and he brought so much joy and laughter into my life, and I’m excited to embark on this new journey with him,” she said. -AWANI
US-BASED Malaysian singer Yuna is one of the five singers for the 2016 Olympics promotional song, including Grammy award-winner Lenny Kravitz, reported Kosmo!
Titled The Fire, the song will also feature singers Diogo Nogueira from Brazil, Nneka from Nigeria and Corrine Bailey Rae from Britain.
Sharing the news on Facebook, Yuna said she was proud to be part of it.
â€œI am excited to work with everyone on this song,â€ the 28-year-old wrote.
Yuna, whose full name is Yunalis Mat Zaraâ€™ai, has recorded campaign songs for International Womenâ€™s Day, for designer Diane von Furstenberg and the theme for Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
KUALA LUMPUR – Ushering in the New Year with a bang, Celcom Axiata Berhad is set to thrill audience with the live performance from Malaysia’s sensational singer Yuna, at the Blue Cube @ Sunway Pyramid on Jan 2.
Yuna’s special appearance follows after the recent success of Yonder Music by Celcom, an unlimited digital music service which was made exclusively available only for Celcom customers on Nov 19, the leading data network provider said in a statement today.
She will take stage at Blue Cube @ Sunway Pyramid at 2pm, and will be performing three of her favourite songs, followed by a special meet and greet session exclusively for 20 selected FIRST by Celcom customers.
Similar and exclusive events were also held with ‘Kau Ilhamku’ composer and singer, Man Bai, who performed live at the Blue Cube Suria Mall, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Dec 12.
This was followed by musical artiste Hafiz Hamidun at Blue Cube KB Mall, Kota Bharu, Kelantan on Dec 19.
Celcom customers were also given an exclusive opportunity to meet and greet the celebrity artistes after witnessing their favourite artistes’ live performances.

KUALA LUMPUR – Yuna’s newest album is almost 90 per cent complete and is expected to be released end of February next year.
The Malaysian singer-songwriter said the fifth United States (US) version album, would feature a different side of her character by emphasising the elements of urban, RnB, and hip hop which are more rhythmic and fresh.
“Even though there will be changes in terms of rhythm, I am confident that the listeners will know that the songs are from Yuna once they listen to it,” she told Bernama in an exclusive interview here recently.
However, she is still keeping the title of the album and number of songs available a secret.
For her fans in Malaysia, she said she was planning to come up with more humorous and teasing songs.
“In terms of cultural and music reception here, Malaysians prefer the songs that are close to their lives such as ‘Lelaki’, ‘Dan Sebenarnya’ and others,” she said.
Yuna had released four Malaysian albums, namely Yuna (2008), Decorate (2010), Terukir di Bintang (2012), and Material (2015). The four US albums were Decorate (2011), Yuna (2012), Sixth Street (2013) and Nocturnal (2013).
On Friday, she entertained 3,000 fans at ‘Yuna, Live In Malaysia’ concert at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, here.

The international singer is part of a campaign by the high-end American fashion retail store.
As part of its fall campaign entitled L.A. Stories, Barneys New York has collaborated with iconic fashion photographer Bruce Weber to come up with a spread featuring 76 people who are either from or living in Los Angeles.
Among those people is Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna Zarai, who moved to LA a few years back to work on her career. She is currently signed to Verve Records, a company headed by award-winning producer/musician David Foster.
The campaign, which is part of Barneys New Yorkâ€™s efforts to promote its outlets in the West Coast, also features businessfolk, artists, models, celebrities, indie darlings, dancers, a pizza delivery guy, students and more.
