PETALING JAYA: A parody video of Malaysian singer Yuna’s performance with Usher that has been widely criticised by the public has been removed by Astro entertainment show MeleTOP.

“We would like to sincerely apologize to Yuna & Usher for our recent parody video, which was poor judgement on our part,” tweeted MeleTOP on Thursday evening.

“Rest assured that this does not reflect our values and beliefs,” it tweeted, adding that the video has since been removed.

MeleTOP also requested for the public not to share the parody video.

The Malay-language entertainment show is hosted by comedian Nabil Ahmad and actress Neelofa.

The spoof that was aired on Tuesday featured comedian Shuk SYJ, who was in blackface makeup and acting as African-American R&B artist Usher, extending his arms to supposedly hug comedian Jihan Muse who acted as Yuna. However, she bows instead of accepting the hug.

The skit was to ridicule the live performance by Yuna and Usher when they performed their song Crush at The Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, the United States, last June.

After the performance, the paired hugged on stage, which sparked criticism among people who said that her behaviour was unacceptable as a Muslim woman.

2015 has definitely been the year that A-Listers’ children have come bounding into the spotlight, knocking their famous parents to the sidelines as they pass.

Brooklyn Beckham and Lily-Rose Depp have become the much-loved darlings of social media, with sixteen-year-old Lily-Rose borderline breaking the internet when she revealed over on her Instagram page that she is sexually fluid.

Now her dad, Johnny Depp, has opened up about his close relationship with his starlet daughter, admitting that he already knew about her sexuality and is there to support her all the way.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the actor shared: “She’s got thousands of followers on social media, and they were all taken completely by surprise. But not me.

“I already knew because she tells me everything – she’s not afraid to say anything to me. We’re super-tight and I’m very proud of our relationship.

“And, whatever she is doing, if she needs any advice, I’m there for her. Kids are going to make their own decisions, but I guess that the only thing you can do as a parent is to offer support. And I do.”

The 52-year-old also admitted that it was a little bit scary to see his little girl become famous in her own right thanks to social media, adding: “It’s such a funny thing when you see your daughter transitioning from your baby, your little girl, to suddenly being a young woman.

“If you’re not really looking for it, you can miss it, and Lily-Rose is on that road already and there’s nothing I can do to stop it … No matter how grown up she gets, I’ll never stop worrying about her. It’s a father-daughter thing.”

Johnny is also dad to thirteen-year-old son, Jack.

After a rocky start, Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner are in a much better place following Caitlyn’s transition.

“I think for anyone that goes through this, it’s not the most common thing so I don’t think a lot of people can really understand it,” Kim Kardashian West told told E! News exclusively Wednesday while promoting this Sunday’s season 11 premiere of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”

“It’s been an adjustment and it takes time and that’s OK. That’s normal.”

The former spouses, who split in 2014, have a come a long way since Caitlyn came out as a transgender woman in April.

“They’re in such a great place now and our family is like totally coming back together, but I do respect that adjustment process and having to just adjust to a different lifestyle,” Kardashian West said. “It’s our new normal and everyone is doing such a great job, we communicate really well. I think the whole family does and we’re really vocal so I think that really helps. We all know family is everything to us it’s always been our No. 1 priority and I think that that will always remain our No. 1 priority and I think if we stick with that, obviously there can be adjustment periods and people will have to get used to things, but we just become stronger from that.”

Kris, 60, and Caitlyn, 65, sat near each other earlier this week in the front row of Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to watch their daughter Kendall Jenner walk the runway in her first show for the lingerie brand.

Kardashian West expects the whole family to be together again for the holidays.

“We haven’t really talked about it but I’m sure Thanksgiving we’ll all have it at one of our houses and then the holidays, we have our Christmas Eve party like usual,” she told E! “We’ll always be together.”

After the shocking split of her relationship with Nedim Nazri Aziz, actress and TV host Nora Danish admitted that she would not reject the possibility of rekindling the romance with her ex if it was truly their fate.

Talking to BH Online, the bubbly 34-year-old revealed that although they are no longer an item, they are still on good terms and even went out together a few times as friends.

“It’s true that we did hang out together after our break-up. We’re both adults who are matured enough to handle our problems diplomatically.”

Both have known each other for about 10 years; they ventured into business together and became close when their marriages failed.

Keeping a positive outlook on the future, Nora knew that good things cannot be rushed.

“I won’t deny the likelihood of us getting back together and get married. Who knows? If it is meant to be then it shall. But as for now, we are more comfortable this way,” said Nora of her former,two-year relationship.

Previously inseparable and looked very much in love, the pair had no limitations in professing their love and affections to one another on social media and to the press, which ultimately surprised fans when they announced their break-up.

The reason of the split was cited to be because of a third-party intervention, although Nora quickly brush off the gossip by divulging that the relationship ended because of unsolved problems that occurred in their romance that needed time to be sorted out.

Low profile actor Hasnul Rahmat has been accused of cultural appropriation, as photos of him posing next to dogs and statues of Jesus Christ makes a frequent appearance on his Instagram account.

The 43-year-old Singaporean-born actor sparked a mini controversy when he posted a picture of him sitting between two dogs with his palm placed on one of the animal’s head.

Almost immediately, fans erupted in outrage, slamming the talented actor for being insensitive.

However, the pictures have since been deleted.

In the Malay culture and some Islamic scholars’ opinions, dogs are deemed ‘unclean’ and shouldn’t be kept as pets as it disrupts the ablution.

However, a Muslim can keep a dog for only genuine reasons like the security of property and human life as well as hunting.

LOS ANGELES – Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown, died on Sunday — five-and-a-half months after being found unconscious in a bathtub at her home in Roswell, Ga. She was 22.

“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family,” the Houston family said in a statement to People. “She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

Brown had been hospitalized and in a rehab center since Jan. 31. She underwent surgery to replace her breathing tube with a tracheostomy tube in February. She was rushed to the hospital in late January after her partner, Nick Gordon, found her face down in the tub and called 911. She was then placed in a medically induced coma and never regained consciousness.

Her mother, singer Whitney Houston, was found dead in a bathtub the day before the Grammy awards on Feb. 11, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Houston suffered a heart attack complicated by the use of cocaine, with which she had struggled for many years. Bobby Brown was addicted to cocaine, crack and heroin at various times and had several run-ins with the law as well as recent DUIs.

Brown and her parents’ tumultuous life were chronicled on two reality series. “Being Bobby Brown” ran on Bravo in 2005.

“The duo — occasionally joined by their daughter, Bobbi Kristina, who appears unscarred by that gawkward 1999 ‘Divas’ concert, during which her mother flamboyantly serenaded her — seem, for all their idiosyncrasies, quite genuine. With the singers smoking and tippling and making really bad jokes, theirs is not the tidiest of portraits, but it feels like an honest one,” wrote Gillian Flynn of “Being Bobby Brown” in Entertainment Weekly.

Lifetime’s “The Houstons: On Our Own,” which ran for one season starting in 2012, chronicled Bobbi Kristina Brown’s attempts to move forward after her mother’s death and to launch her own singing career. The show was criticized for being intrusive and exploiting a family’s grief.

Her parents divorced when she was 14, and Bobbi Kristina Brown inherited her mother’s estate. Gordon had lived with the Houston family since age 12, and Brown had said they were married, although the family said the marriage was not formalized. Though Brown had earlier called him her brother, she responded to critics of the relationship explaining that he was never officially adopted by Houston.

In addition to her Gordon, survivors include her father, Bobby Brown’s two children from an earlier relationship, her grandmother Cissy and her aunt and uncle Pat and Gary Houston. – Reuters

As if being a sock designer, flash tattoo collaborator, face of Dior, Puma creative director, the best bridesmaid ever, and oh, a Grammy Award-winning singer, weren’t enough to keep Rihanna occupied, the pop star just unveiled a new fragrance.

Appropriately titled RiRi, the scent is “coming soon” according to the pop star, who shared what we assume is the very pink fragrance ad (less “sexually suggestive” than her last perfume campaign).

“Excited to announce my newest fragrance ‘RiRi,’” she wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.

RiRi — the person, not the perfume — is no stranger to world of celeb fragrances, having released Rogue Love and Rogue Man in 2014, Rogue and 777 Nude by Rihanna Diamonds in 2013, Nude and Rebelle in 2012, and Reb’l Fleur in 2010.

Kendall Jenner has revealed her first ad for Fendi on Instagram, and though 1.1million people ‘liked’ the picture, it seems her fashion fans do not.

Shot by Karl Lagerfeld, the ad shows the 19-year-old model wearing a large fur coat, clutching a light pink Fendi bag.

Commentators on The Fashion Spot called it ‘hands down the worst Fendi campaign I’ve seen in a while’.

Another added: ‘The lighting is on another whole new level of cheapness,’ while someone else complained it is a ‘great collection ruined by a horrible campaign and a bad model’.

One more commenter chimed in: ‘The make-up doesn’t suit her… needs someone with cheekbones!!’

Another fashion fan explained bluntly: ‘There is no tension in her body. She just stands there. It really bugs me.

‘It’s almost the 50th anniversary of Karl at Fendi and this is no way to celebrate. That house deserves more and Kendall deserves nothing. She’s not a model. Period.’

Despite the criticisms, many believe Kendall is the next runner up for a Chanel campaign – following in the footsteps of Cara Delevingne and Blake Lively.
