ALOR SETAR – Tabung Haji (TH) will set key performance indicators (KPI) for its staff beginning next year in an effort to improve the management system of the pilgrims.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the KPI was aimed at giving the best service to the pilgrims to perform the fifth pillar of Islam.
“This year we have reduced the time period of the pilgrims in Jeddah airport from more than five hours to three hours, where TH has prepared their biometrics earlier.
“This is just one example and from time to time, TH will improve other things for the smooth management of the pilgrims during the pilgrimage this year,” he told reporters after bidding farewell to Kedah pilgrims at TH Hotel & Convention Centre, here last night.
Present was the Tunku Temenggong of Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, who is also the Kedah Council of Regency chairman.
Abdul Azeez said they would also take into consideration the journey from Jeddah to Mina and Makkah, and the time taken to repair broken-down buses.
He said if the bus took too long to be repaired, it would be replaced by another bus to enable pilgrims to proceed to their destination.
“The bus will have problems especially the air conditioner and tyres due to the hot weather. We have skilled staff to solve the problem,” he said.
Abdul Azeez also advised the pilgrims to minimise outdoor activities and drink plenty of water to avoid heat stroke due to the high temperature in Makkah which could reach up to 51 degrees Celsius. – BERNAMA
