KUALA LUMPUR – T-Team fought hard to edge Kuala Lumpur 2-1 in the Premier league tonight in memory of their late captain David Faramola Oniya, who died of heart failure during the team’s friendly against Kelantan in Kota Baharu on Saturday.
In last night’s match at Stadium Inspen, Bangi, T-Team opened scoring in the 46th minute through Ahmad Takiyuddin but Fairuz Abdul Aziz pulled the hosts level in the 71st minute.
However, Farhod Tadjiyev found the winner for T-Team in the third minute of added time (90+3).
The result put T-Team at the top of the table with 26 points after 11 matches.
Sabah, meanwhile, caused an upset when they defeated NS Matrix 3-1 at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi. The victory earned them second spot in the table with 22 points, the same as Kedah but with a superior goal difference.
Alto Linus put the visitors ahead as early as the 3rd minute followed by goals by Joel Chianese (35th) and Abdoulaye Faye (44th). The hosts’ consolation goal was netted by Forkey Doe in the 85th minute.
UiTM FC who are using the Perak Stadium in Ipoh as their home stadium were held to a 2-2 draw by Kedah.
Dao Bakary and Raslam Khan Abdul Rashid had scored for the hosts in the 13th and 21st minutes but Baddrol Bakhtiar and Brazilian import Sandro da Silva’s goals in the 52nd and 74th minutes ensured the visitors took home a point.
At the City Stadium in George Town, Penang defeated bottom-placed SPA Putrajaya FC 3-1.
Penang’s goals were netted by Brazilian import Alberto Goncalves (1st, 76th)and Mohd Faiz Subri (42nd) while Mohd Norhafizzuan Jailani replied for the visitors in the 79th minute.
Elsewhere, Kuantan FA lost 1-3 to PKNS at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan with PKNS’s Argentinian import Gabriel Miguel Guerra scoring a hattrick (55th (penalty), 63rd and 75th) while Milan Purovic scored for Kuantan FA in the 44th minute.
Down south, Johor Darul Ta’zim II edged DRB-Hicom FC 1-0 at Stadium Hang Jebat , Melaka with the solitary goal contributed by Leandro Sabastian in the 81st minute. – BERNAMA
