KUALA LUMPUR: Residents in 244 areas around Hulu Langat and Kuala Lumpur who experienced unscheduled water disruption can breathe a sigh of relief as full water supply will resume by Wednesday.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) in a statement said the disruption was due to a break down at the Raw Water Treatment Plant in Sungai Langat on July 5.
“The break down was spotted at 3pm on July 5, and the operator of the plant, Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd, had to reduce the output of treated water to 402,333 consumers in the affected areas,” said the statement.
Meanwhile, Syabas has put in place a preparedness plan to ensure continuous supply of sufficient clean water during the festive season from July 16 to 24.
Syabas Corporate Affairs executive director Priscilla Alfred said the plan would be used as a reference and guidance to parties involved in the supply and distribution of clean water services in the event of unscheduled interruption of water supply in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
“To ensure a smooth and orderly implementation, Syabas has submitted the plan to all government departments, agencies and organisations involved,” she said in a statement on Tuesday.
She said among the organisations were the Selangor government, Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry, National Water Services Commission, Selangor Water Management Board, National Security Council, Fire and Rescue Department, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur members of Parliament and state assemblymen. – Bernama
