KUALA LUMPUR; Malaysia is looking forward to working with other nations to show that climate action can be part of national development, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.
In his opening address at the Energy for Tomorrow International Conference, Najib said as the chair of ASEAN next year, Malaysia will advocate for sustainable growth and climate action.
“I believe that fast developing nations such as ours have an important role to play in driving climate action.
“We can demonstrate that sustainable development is not an indulgence but can be a precursor for success.” he said.
The two-day conference which starts today is hosted by the International New York Times.
Themed “Powering Sustainable Development”, it features international speakers from Japan and the United States.-NST
