Suspected Drug Trafficker Has RM1.4 Million In Bank Savings Account

LANGKAWI – Police believed that the 28-year-old woman who was arrested at the Kuah Jetty here last Thursday was the mastermind of a drug syndicate on the island.

Langkawi district police chief Supt Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said this followed an investigation which found that she had savings of RM1.4 million in her bank account.

The woman was arrested about 6.30 pm last Thursday at the jetty after police found drugs, comprising 5kg of heroin and 171gm of syabu, in a sling bag she was carrying, he told reporters here Sunday.

He said the woman was among two suspected drug traffickers who were arrested under an anti-drug operation to clean the island of drug abuse.

In an operation conducted in Bukit Malut here between Sept 3 and 10, he said, police detained 71 drug addicts. – BERNAMA
