in Latest/Sports

SUBANG JAYA: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has voiced his disapproval of the slogan ‘KitaLawan’ (We Fight) for the Selangor state contingent at the 2016 Malaysia Games (Sukma).

This is because, the slogan had been used by a political party.

“Therefore I do not want the people to misunderstand or have the Selangor contingent mixed with politics.

‘I think it is better for the 2016 Sukma Selangor contingent to find a better slogan for Selangor so as not to bring any controversy to the good image of Selangor athletes and team,” he said at the 2014 Selangor Sports Awards presentation ceremony which was also attended by Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali here last night.

The State Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneurial Development Committee chairman, Amirudin Shari had earlier announced the slogan for the state’s contingent at the 16th Sukma in Sarawak next July.

At the ceremony, swimmer Chew Yi Wei was crowned as the 2014 state sportsman while karate exponent Syakilla Salni Jefry Krosnan won the state sportswoman for 2014.
