KUALA LUMPUR – The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah today visited the office of the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) in Jalan
Raja Muda Abdul Aziz, here.
During the visit, Sultan Nazrin who is also NCSM’s royal patron, toured the cancer screening centres there and launced a new digital x-ray machine to be used for cancer screening.
Accompanying the Sultan during the visit was Raja Permaisuri Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.
Sultan Nazrin then launched ‘Cancer Action Malaysia’, a programme which is part of the rebranding of NCSM which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year.
Through the rebranding exercise, NCSM hopes to set up an information centre on cancer which will be manned by experienced nurses and cancer survivors to give advice to cancer patients.
Sultan Nazrin and Tuanku Zara also visited Rumah Harapan Kanak-Kanak at the premises which provides temporary accommodation for children with cancer receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. – BERNAMA
“This is what I want to see in the government and administration so that we can show not only transformation but an improvement in the government programmes and services for the people.
“This is what we must keep in mind and, in this way, we hope that as a government we can show more positive transformation,” he said.
The Prime Minister reminded civil servants not to lose focus and to give preference to the government transformation policy for the sake of the people and country.
Soon after his arrival at the event, Najib spent some time visiting the 13 food stalls and talking to the JPM staff.
JPM resident artistes as well as guest artistes performed at the event, which was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
Najib also handed out ‘duit raya’ cash gift packets to 15 orphaned children of JPM staff and a RM15,000 contribution from the Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Department to welfare homes. – BERNAMA
