PARIT – The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, today visited the graves of seven past sultans in conjunction with the recent enthronement of His Royal Highness as the Sultan of Perak XXXV.
Their Royal Highnesses, attired in light green Malay traditional attire, braved a heavy downpour as they arrived at Kampung Air Mati in Lambor Kanan at about 9.30 am to visit the grave of the 10th sultan of Perak, Sultan Mudzaffar Shah II.
They were accompanied by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
A ‘tahlil’ and reciting of the ‘doa’ was held, led by the imam of the Seri Iskandar District Mosque, Badrul Husaini Baharudin.
Their Royal Highnesses poured scented water and sprinkled flower petals on the grave.
According to the history of Perak, Sultan Mudzaffar Shah II acceded to the Perak throne as the 10th sultan in 1636 following the demise of Sultan Sallehuddin Shah in Kampar.
Sultan Mudzaffar Shah II lived in Air Mati, Padang Changkat, Lambor Kanan, and ruled for 17 years until 1653. His grave is named ‘Marhum Jalilullah’.
Sultan Nazrin Shah and Tuanku Zara then visited the grave of Sultan Mudzaffar Shah I (the first sultan of Perak) in Kampung Telok Bakong and the graves of Sultan Mahmud Shah (8th sultan) and Sultan Muhammad Shah (14th sultan) in Kampung Melayu, Pulau Tiga.
Their Royal Highnesses also visited the graves of Sultan Mahmud Iskandar Shah (11th sultan); Sultan Alaudin Mughayat (Riayat) Shah (12th sultan) and Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Shah (3rd sultan), all of which are in Kampung Jawa, Mukim Pulau Tiga.
They poured scented water and sprinkled flower petals on the graves. Tahlil and the reciting of the doa were also held. – BERNAMA
