TANJUNG MALIM – The annual Malaysian University Staff Sports (Sukum) will help bring athletes and employees of public universities in the country closer says Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
He said Sukum which had been organised since 1974 is also a platform to drive the sporting performance of participants and even unearth new talent.
“The spirit of unity and brotherhood built during the meet would go a long way to further strengthen the network among university employees,” he said when opening the 42nd Sukum at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Stadium, Sultan Azlan Shah Campus, Proton City here tonight.
In this regard, Zambry said the championships in UPSI was timely in conjunction with the 2017 Visit Perak Year that was launched by the state government.
A total of 21 public universities are competing in 21 sports in Sukum which began on Saturday and will end on Aug 5. – BERNAMA
