KUALA LUMPUR – Every suggestions and views that are brought up by the people are constantly taken into consideration by the government in preparing for the national budget.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the budget preparation was not limited only to suggestions from government officers but everyone could also have the opportunity to jointly develop the country.
“Getting suggestions, views and constructive criticisms from all strata of society – regardless of whether non-governmental organisations, entrepreneurs, corporate, youth and professional, rural residents and many more.
“This initiative is being continued every year since 2012,” he said in his latest entry in his blog NajibRazak.com and tweeter here today.
In the 2015 Budget, he said there were several suggestions from Lim Boon Chon who proposed that individual income tax be reduced while Abdul Rahman Kamis suggested that provision of 20 per cent discount to the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers be taken into account and announced in the budget.
Najib said the practice would be continued and a special website to be provided so that all the people had the opportunity to give suggestions and help shape the 2016 Budget at https://najibrazak.com/bajet2016.
“Present as many suggestions as possible in the 2016 Budget micro website so that we can shape our country’s future together,” he said.
He said in the 2016 Budget further elaboration on the additional revenue on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and how it is being spent would also be made.
The 2016 Budget is the first budget under the 11th Malaysia Plan to be tabled next month.
