KUALA LUMPUR – The success of the national Under 13 (U-13) team in the Iber Cup 2015 signals the revival of Malaysian football.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin did not want the young players to lose focus with the publicity gained through their success.
“Their success is a result of the implementation of the national football development programme which is in its first year.
“It is important for the players to maintain a regular playing style that is neat and effective until they become adults,” he told reporters last night.
The U-13 team coached by Lim Teong Kim beat Sporting Lisbon 2-1 in the Iber Cup final on Saturday in Estoril, Portugal.
