Studying Religion In Narrow Perspective Leds Many Into Extremism

in Latest

PUTRAJAYA – Most people who become involved with extremist or militant groups are those who did not study the real Islam, but learnt about it in a narrow perspective, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

“Some learnt from teachers who were prone to wrong teachings or who had strayed from the true Islamic teachings.

“If they had learnt the true Islam, the religion does not teach them to commit violence or extremist activities,” he said.

Asyraf Wajdi was speaking to reporters after representing the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom in presenting excellence awards for the 2014 national-level Al-Quran and Fardu Ain Assessment Tests (UPKK) here Thursday.
