PATTANI (Thailand) – Six bombs went off in Yaring town last night, injuring five policemen on duty and damaging several buildings, police said today.
Yaring District Police chief Pol Col Montree Khonwadmai said the bombs exploded at about 11pm in front of a bank, a cooperative office, several business premises and the house of a village chief.
“The policemen were injured by the explosion in front of the house of the village chief where they were on duty,” he said, adding that they were sent to the Pattani Hospital.
One of the business premises targeted was a building housing a retail shop.
An occupant of the building, Suprani Pechwilai, 66, said the premises were badly damaged by the explosion but he and his five grandchildren were unhurt.
Montree said police believed that 10 people were involved in setting off the bombs. – BERNAMA
