SHAH ALAM – A stock broker pleaded not guilty in a sessions court here today, to four counts of cheating a client of RM1.3 million, two years ago.
Chan Yew Mun, 31, claimed trial to the charges when they were read to him by a court interpreter before Judge Zamri Bakar.
He was charged with deceiving Goh Kho Hong, 55, into believing that he (accused) could manage investments in RHB Investment Bank Bhd and thereby influenced Goh to hand over four cheques in the amount of RM250,000, RM250,000, RM300,000 and RM500,000 as money for investments to the accused.
Chan was charged with committing the four offences at No: 1, Jalan Bulan U5/ 166, Bandar Pinggiran Subang near here between Sept 26 and Dec 31, 2013.
Deputy Public Prosecutor, Siti Syuhada Alwi urged the court to set bail at RM100,000 for the four charges but Chan’s counsel, Jason Das appealed for a lesser amount.
Zamri allowed bail of RM40,000 in one surety for all the charges and fixed May 25 for re-mention. – BERNAMA
