SEPANG – National racer, Zulfahmi Khairuddin is confident of his chances of a podium finish in the Moto3 class despite having to start from 10th position on the grid at the Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Sepang Circuit tomorrow.
In the qualifying round this morning, Zulfahmi succeeded in showing improvement in his time by recording two minutes 13.280 seconds in the seventh of 13 laps.
“My time differences with those of the top 10 racers is not much. Tome, all the racers at the front have the opportunity for podium at the race tomorrow. I used the soft tyre today which helped the machine to move much faster.
“Overall, I am satisfied with the adjustments to my motorcycle in Sepang. Ionly need to enjoy the race tomorrow and I am confident of achieving my best result,” said the Drive M7 SIC racer.
Italian racer Niccolo Antonelli from the Ongetta-Rivacold will start from pole position followed by Jorge Navarro (Estrella Galacia 0,0) and Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo).
However, Zulfahmi said he must start the race more aggressively to complete the race in the top 10.
The 24-year-old racer said the worsening haze at the Sepang Circuit in the evening did not affect his performance today.
Zulfahmi, who is said to be making his final appearance in Sepang in the Moto3 class, created history at the Sepang Circuit when he emerged second when in action in 2012. – BERNAMA
