ARAU – The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said sports can contribute to the betterment of society by producing a generation that is healthy, optimistic and of quality.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin emphasised the need to optimise sports activities that are practiced continuously to lessen the risk of illnesses caused by failure of the cardiovascular system such as heart problems, diabetes and hypertension while strengthening the muscles that also improved the flow of blood and oxygen.
He also urged the public to fill their free time participating in sports activities with their friends, helping them to achieve a holistic balance in development and personal growth.
He said this when officiating the closing ceremony of the 2016 seventh Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) sports championship held at the Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra sports complex in the state’s Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) branch here, last night.
He was welcomed by MARA’s director of education, Abd Hamid Ahmad and Beseri MRSM principal, Mohamad Salim Bulat.
The championship witnessed the participation of 601 athletes from MRSM nationwide, under the theme of ‘Passion For Gold’, starting from July 30 until Aug 2, with the Beseri MRSM as its host.- BERNAMA
