KUALA LUMPUR – The ongoing Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination is proceeding smoothly despite some areas hit by floods, said Eduction Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
He said according to reports received by the ministry, only some primary schools were affected and that ministry had in place contingency plans to deal with any flood situation.
“So there is no problem as the school holidays have started,” he told reporters after opening the Malaysian Book Expo at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.
Floods have broken out in Perak, Selangor, Sabah and Sarawak.
A total of 440,682 candidates are sitting for the examination which started on Nov 2 and ends on Dec 8.
The expo which ends on Nov 29 has some 150 booths showcasing publications from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and China. – BERNAMA
