KUALA TERENGGANU- Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) are very important as they are able to make a difference.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak cited an example of a family who almost missed their flight for an overseas trip when they discovered at the eleventh hour that one of their passports was about to expire in a week.
“Fortunately, the existence of a UTC facilitated the speedy renewal of the passport and the family could continue their trip without a hitch,” he said.
International passports require a minimum validity of six months for overseas travel.
Najib was referring to a family who had gone to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang some time ago.
“When they got there (KLIA) the son discovered that his mother’s passport was about to expire in a week.
“He managed to rush with her to the UTC in Puduraya (Kuala Lumpur), get the passport renewed in less than an hour, and then hurried to catch their flight in time.
“Such is the scenario of the speedy service at the UTC,” the Prime Minister said in his speech at the opening of the Kuala Terengganu UTC at the Paya Bunga Square, here today.
