KUALA LUMPUR – National triathlete Shahrom Abdullah is optimistic about withstanding the challenges of embarking on a 1,000-km South Pole expedition.
The ‘All The Way 2015’ expedition is organised by the Malaysian Seven Continents Exploration Club (KE7B).
Shahrom, 36, said the expedition would kick off on Nov 17 from Messner in Antarctica and was expected to reach the south pole in 45 to 60 days.
“So far, all preparations are going well. My training began nine months ago and personally, I’m confident that I can withstand the challenge.
“To date, I have successfully undergone four phases of training locally and abroad. The training focuses not only on fitness but also technical aspects,” he told reporters at the presentation of sponsorship for the expedition here Monday.
Miresco Integrated Sdn Bhd, the official sponsor for the expedition, presented the i-Mizu water container that can convert ordinary water into hydrogen-rich alkaline water.
