KEMAMAN – A fanatical fan, who vowed to walk around peninsula Malaysia if Pahang won the Malaysia Cup, has reached Terengganu, the last state before reaching the finishing line at the Darul Makmur Stadium, Pahang.
Abdul Majid A Hamid, 59, or more well-known as Pak Majid, started his mission on Nov 4 after the Tok Gajah squad emerged champions, and is now 95 per cent into his journey, after passing through 11 states.
Despite facing difficulties and challenges, Pak Majid said he remained resolute and faced his ordeal with an open mind to ensure his vow was fulfilled.
“Initially, the walk was not too difficult. However, crossing the Main Range was gruelling. It took me 15 hours to go up the Main Range. To get down the peak to Batu Melintang, Jeli took 12 hours. I had to pick up the pace to avoid spending the night in the middle of the jungle,” he said when met by Bernama at Felda Neram here, today.
Pak Majid is expected to arrive at the Darul Makmur Stadium on Friday.
He said he would walk another 30 km to Indera Mahkota tomorrow and would cross the finishing line on Friday. In total, he would have walked almost 2,200 km.
The former security guard carried out his vow after the Tok Gajah squad once again won the Malaysia Cup.
From Nov 6 last year, he also did a 280 km six-day solo walk from Kuantan to the Shah Alam Stadium and returned to Kuantan after Pahang beat Kelantan to become Malaysia Cup champion.
Pahang beat Johor Darul Ta’zim 5-3 via penalty kicks during extra time when they drew 2-2 in the final match of the Malaysia Cup at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Nov 2. – Bernama
