KUANTAN – The good intention of a military personnel to help accident victims at Km 44, Karak-Kuala Lumpur Highway turned tragic when he was hit by another vehicle that crashed at 6.30 pm today.
Bentong District Police chief Supt Mohamad Mansor Mohd Nor said the victim, Khairul Anuar Zakariya, 33, a personnel at the Mempaga army camp, Bentong here was in a military vehicle with his colleague Syvester Fredrick Timen, 31, when they saw a Proton Exora car skidded and overturned into a ditch.
They then came out to help along with another driver of a Nissan Sunny identified as M. Raman, 37, when he was rammed by another Proton Exora car with a family of six which also crashed.
“The victim was hit while helping to move items from the overturned Proton Exora in the ditch to the military vehicle the two soliders had ridden in.
“Suddenly another Proton Exora car skidded and hit them. The victim died on the spot while his colleague sustained injuries on his right hand and Raman on his legs,” he told reporters here tonight.
Mohamad Mansor said the driver of the Exora, Ridhuan Rusdan, 33, a Risda staff here sprained his left shoulder while his wife Norazura Yahya, 32, who was the front passenger sustained body injuries.
Their youngest son Nur Zahra Adawiyah, aged five months, sustained head injuries while two sons, Nur Zahra Umairah, 6, Muhammad Zaid Zulfan, 4, were not injured.
Also injured was Norazurz’s sister-in-law, Nur Izah, 15, who suffered from hand injury.
Mohamad Mansor said the driver of the Exora car that skidded into the ditch was Mohammad Rizal Tarsi, 37, a Royal Malaysian Air Force personnel here who sustained injuries on the legs and hands.
His Surita Nur Tajuddin, 38, and their two children Nur Iman Aleeya, 12, and Muhammad Iman Rifqie, 8, were not injured.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said. – BERNAMA
