KUALA PILAH – The Yang DiPertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir today called on the people to be concerned about issues or concepts on solidarity among the plural society in the state and country.
He said it was important for everyone to realise and learn from the peace prevailing in the country and to appreciate the harmony that had been achieved.
Tuanku Muhriz disclosed this at the investiture in conjunction with his 67th birthday anniversary at the Istana Besar Seri Menanti, near here. The Ruler was accompanied by the Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani binti Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud.
Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and his wife, Raja Datin Seri Salbiah Tengku Nujumuddin and State Secretary Datuk Mat Ali Hassan.
The Ruler also called on the people to animate the true concept of solidarity that was not restricted by race or religion but through good relations, sincerity and tolerance between the people of various races.
Tuanku Muhriz also expressed sadness at the flood disaster that struck several states recently.
“I am thankful that my state was spared from the major disaster that affected the people’s life. I believe my government always ensures that the government machinery and logistical facilities are always in a state of preparedness besides updating existing work procedure to face any possibility of a disaster,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tuanku Muhriz said that through his observation, he was satisfied with and proud of the achievement made by the state in various aspects such as the economy, finance, investment, education and social development.
He believed Negeri Sembilan was now in the best position to achieve the developed state status.
At the investiture, 132 people were conferred state honours and medals by Tuanku Muhriz.
Former vice-chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Mohd Rashdan Baba headed the list of recipients when he was conferred the Darjah Seri Utama Negeri Sembilan (SUNS) which carried the title Datuk Seri
Tengku Syarif Bendahara Perlis Datuk Seri di-Raja Syed Badarudin Jamalullail Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail was the sole recipient of the Darjah Setia Tuanku Muhriz Yang amat Terbilang (SSTM) which carried the title DatukÂ Seri.
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek, and the president and chief executive officer of Kumpulan Sime Darby Bhd Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh were the two recipients of the award Darjah Seri Setia Negeri Sembilan Yang Amat Cemerlang (SSNS), which carried the title Datuk Seri.
The award SSNS was only introduced this year.
Earlier, the ceremony began with a parade and guard-of-honour mounted by the 71st Royal Signals Regiment, Sungai Besi Camp comprising three officers and 113 other ranks.
The First Infantry Brigade demonstrated a war exercise with the background music provided by the Central Band of the Malaysian Royal Armoured Corps, Sungai Besi Camp. – BERNAMA
