PETALING JAYA – SMK Tinggi Kajang lifted the Dato’ Mokhtar Dahari Cup after beating SMK Meru from Klang 1-0 in the final today.
The only goal was scored by Aiman â€‹â€‹Ariff Suffian after only 15 minutes of action at Kompleks Sukan PKNS in Kelana Jaya.
SMK Tinggi Kajang took home RM10,000, medals and a trophy while SMK Meru received RM7,000 and medals for their effort from Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali who also watched the match.
Meanwhile, SMK Sultan Sulaiman Shah, Kuala Selangor won third place after beating SMK La Salle, Petaling Jaya 2-0 in the third place play-off.
The tournament’s organising chairman Datuk Emran Kadir said 32 teams from nine districts in Selangor participated in the second edition this year.
“Throughout the tournament we have identified 30 players who will be handed
over to the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) to polish their skills,” he told reporters here, today.
Meanwhile, Perangsang Selangor group director Mustaffa Kamil Ayub said the company had sponsored RM150,000, including jersey to eight teams who made to the quarter-final stage
“Congratulations to the tournament’s organising committee. Last year, it only involved the Petaling district but this year it involved all nine districts in Selangor,” he said.
The tournament is meant for secondary school students in Selangor and aimed to identify new talent for the future. – BERNAMA
