KUANTAN – The Parent-Teacher’s Association (PTA) of Sekolah Kebangsaan St Thomas today distributed masks to 413 students in the school in an effort to protect the students during the haze.
PTA president, Datuk Tengku Abu Nirah Tengku Ahmad said the move was to protect the health of students, especially those vulnerable to respiratory and other chronic diseases.
“Parents need not worry as we have taken various precautions to protect the health and safety of students in this unhealthy hazy conditions,” he told reporters after masks and mineral water were issued to the students and staff yesterday morning.
“If possible we want the Education Department and the school to monitor the haze situation and conduct health checks on students following the constant change in API readings,” he added.
Meanwhile, SK St Thomas headmaster, Datuk Mohamed Sabri Mohd Arsad said the school would monitor students’ health and ensure that students wear mask duringoutdoor activities. – BERNAMA
