GUA MUSANG – Six members of a family, including three children, were killed when their car was involved in a collision with a lorry at KM25 Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai near Kampung Rantau Manis here today.
Gua Musang police chief Supt Saiful Bahri Abdullah said in the 10am incident, the driver of the car, Nur Amira Azudin, 23, her mother Mardiah Drani, 48, sister-in-law Noor Azila Yasin, 27, and the three children died at the scene.
The three children were Nor Azila’s son Muhammad Hadif Haykal Muhd Hafiz, 18 months, and twins Siti Badrishah Ab Rahman and Siti Noraudah, four, who are the nieces of Nur Amira, he told reporters here.
He said Noor Azila’s husband, Muhd Hafiz, 30, who is the elder brother of Nur Amira, suffered serious head injuries and was admitted to the Gua Musang Hospital.
Saiful Bahri said the drivers of two lorries which contributed to the fatal crash, Ahmad Ismail, 37, and Ahmad Zaki Pahmi, 30, were unhurt.
Saiful Bahri said initial investigations revealed the accident happened when Nur Amira who was believed to trying to overtake one of the lorries collided with other that was coming in the opposite direction.
The family was heading to Felda Chiku 2 here from Kampung Panggong Lalat to visit Nor Azila’s nephew, aged four, who was sick.
Nur Amira’s father, Azudin Sulaiman, 59, when met at the Gua Musang Hospital, said the family had left 8.45am for his in-laws house in Felda Chiku 2.
“I could not follow them as I had some work to do…I only saw the off.
“However, I was shocked to receive they were involved in an accident. I am at a loss for words. I have to accept this as fated,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nur Amira’s cousin, Asiah Che Ibrahim, 30, said Nur Amira, a student at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Kedah had visited her yesterday evening.
“Nur Amira had asked why I had not come to her house and I replied I planned to do so today. I never imagined they would be involved in this fatal accident.
