KUALA LUMPUR – Visitors to ExpoRaya, Singapore’s only air-conditioned Hari Raya Bazaar at the Singapore Expo, organised annually by Orange Events & Media, will be in for a surprise when they catch a glimpse of Singapore’s first President, Yusof Ishak’s figure in their midst.

The life-like figure by Madame Tussauds, the internationally renowned wax attraction, will be at ExpoRaya on July 2 and July 3 from 10am-12midnight.

“Yusof Ishak was a well-respected figure and fondly remembered by Singaporeans and we thought we would take the opportunity to restyle him for Hari Raya so he can celebrate the festivities with the community,” said General Manager of Madame Tussauds Singapore, Craig Connor.

Yusof was an established politician who became the first President of Singapore, serving from 1965 to 1970. Before becoming the head of state, he was a well-known journalist and co-founded Utusan Melayu in 1938, a newspaper which is currently still in publication. Today, Yusof Ishak’s image is most notably found on Singapore’s currency notes.

Visitors to ExpoRaya stand a chance to win a pair of tickets to Madame Tussauds Singapore (worth S$78) where they can pose with personalities – from Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo Dicaprio, to soccer superstar Fandi Ahmad and even Singapore’s founding father, Lee Kuan Yew.

All they have to do is take a photo with Yusof’s figure at ExpoRaya and uploaded it with the hashtags #MTSSingapore and #Exporaya2016 from July 2 to July 3, 2016.

Five lucky winners will be selected on each day. Each ticket includes an entry to Madame Tussauds Singapore, Spirit of Singapore boat ride and Images of Singapore LIVE.

For those who miss the chance to snap a selfie with Yusof at ExpoRaya, they can still catch him in his traditional Malay outfit, Baju Melayu at Madame Tussauds Singapore in Sentosa, from to July 6 to Aug 10, 2016.
