JOHOR BAHARU: It would be a simple birthday celebrationÂ this year on Saturday, for Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
Johor Royal Council chief, Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli said the celebration hadÂ to be toned down as the sultan’s son, Tunku Abdul Jalil is ill.
The highlight of the occasion, the award presentation ceremony would not beÂ held, he told reporters today.
Nevertheless, other activities such as the tahlil and thanksgiving prayerswhich start at 6 pm on Friday at Masjid Abu Bakar and other mosques in theÂ districts would be held as usual.
Abdul Rahim said the solat hajat would be performed at Masjid Abu BakarÂ after the solat Maghrib on Friday, for the health of the sultan and recovery ofÂ Tunku Abdul Jalil.
Meanwhile, he said Hari Hol at the Mahmoodiah royal mausoleum and theÂ Jambatan Sungai Muar carnival on Nov 29 would be held as usual.-BERNAMA
