Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2016 Candidates Fare Slightly Better

PUTRAJAYA: The release of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2016 results today shows a slight improvement in the National Cumulative Grade (GPN), compared with the previous year.

Education Ministry Director-General Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof (pix) announced that last year examination results recorded a GPN of 5.10 compared with 5.15 in 2015.

“Last year result shows that there have been improvement in 41 subjects, 28 subjects recorded some drop in performance while four other subjects recorded no changes in performance,” Khair told reporters during a press conference at the ministry this morning.

“Among the core subjects that recorded improvement in them are Bahasa Melayu, English language, Islamic education and Science with Islamic education recording the highest increase (0.32) while Mathematics recorded the highest drop in performance (0.29).”

Some 340,698 or 85.21% of the 399,822 candidates are eligible for the examination certificates.
