With API levels across the country is going higher than our currency, that does not stop the good people at Tourism Malaysia to kick this year’s Citrawarna cultural parade into high gear.
Set to take place in Dataran Merdeka on the evening of October 17, Citrawarna is a showcase aimed at introducing Malaysia’s rich and colourfully diverse mix of cultures to the world, in the form of a parade slightly similar to Rio De Janeiro’s Carnival (without the raunch and scantily-clad samba dancers, unfortunately.)
Citrawarna 2015 will be focusing on three themes decided on by Tourism Malaysia, namely Culture, Nature, and Future, each of which will be presented in its own act of the non-stop visual and musical showcase.
On board to perform during the event will be popular host Aznil Nawawi, rapper Altimet, and actress-dancer Amelia Henderson. Clothing the more than 600 performers on parade will be
Malaysian couture luminaries such as Melinda Looi, Zang Toi, Rizman Ruzaini, and Rubaq Batik.
This year’s parade will be directed by actress and pop thespian and producer Tiara Jacquelina, of Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical fame. She promises a seamless narrative for this year’s parade, with even the customary fireworks display being incorporated into the overarching story being presented.
Citrawarna 2015 will be happening at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday, October 17. with pre-show performances kicking off at 6.30pm and the parade proper beginning at 8pm.
