‘Sex Blogger Will Return To Face Charges If He Is Brave’

KUALA LUMPUR – Sex blogger Alvin Tan Jye Yee (pic) would not leave his former partner alone to face charges relating to their alleged seditious postings on Facebook if he was a brave man, a deputy public prosecutor told a Sessions Court here.

DPP Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin said, however, the prosecution was confident Tan would return to face the charges against him.

Tan, 26, is believed to be abroad after he was given court permission to attend an appointment in Singapore on May 18.

His ex-girlfriend Vivian Lee May Ling, 25, was also not present.

Wan Shaharuddin told Sessions Court judge Abdul Rashid Daud the Federal Court had fixed Oct 28 for case management on the prosecution’s appeal against a Court of Appeal decision to strike out one of the charges against the sex bloggers.

Wan Shaharuddin said he believed a warrant of arrest could not be served on Tan at this time, although he added that Tan would not want to leave Lee to face the charges alone.

“If he is brave to make comments on the police and the court, he will not let her face the charges alone,” he said in an apparent reference to a posting by Tan that allegedly derided the Malaysian police and several senior national leaders, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak. – The Star Online
