JOHOR BAHARU: The action taken by Pasir Gudang MCA Youth head Cia Chow Hui to sever ties with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is seen as an immature and rash act that disappoints the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties.
Pasir Gudang UMNO Youth head Azman Ja’afar said the statement by Cia that he would not support any program or event attended by the Prime Minister was also seen as improper especially when the nation had just celebrated the national day and the formation of Malaysia recently.
“The decision made does not reflect the actual spirit of comradeship of the component parties of the BN,” he said in a statement here Monday.
He said Cia should look at the bigger picture besides the racial issue.
“This is in line with the call by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar on the matter and did not want the issue and racial sentiments to be played up,” said Azman.
Azman said MCA Youth should realise that they should not be trapped by the tactics and strategy of the opposition to weaken the understanding between the parties of various races in the BN.
He was commenting on the statement by Pasir Gudang MCA Youth head yesterday who had severed ties with the UMNO president following Najib’s statement in supporting the rally ‘Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu’.
“We feel that the Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu is about the BN victory in the coming General Election,” he said.
