According to the Terengganu National Security Council (MKN) portal, theÂ readings at Chalok River near Setiu is currently as high as 8.86 meters, wellÂ above the danger level of 8.40 meters.
Terengganu MKN Acting Secretary Roslina Ngah said three other rivers whichÂ exceeded danger levels were Setia River in Besut village, Telemong River inÂ Kuala Ping and Marang River in Pengkalan Berangan.
Meanwhile, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has today announcedÂ emergency holiday for the university due to calamity as floods hit the campusÂ grounds early this morning.
Vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ibrahim Komoo said UMT safety division staffÂ were in the midst of evacuating students and staff who are trapped in theÂ lecture complex and other buildings.
All students and staff are advised to be careful during the flood situationÂ and to contact the university’s administration for current developments, heÂ said.–BERNAMA
