KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak launched the Services Sector Blueprint and Logistics and Trade Facilitation Masterplan at the Parliament building today, which outlines strategic measures to optimise the contribution of the sector to the national economy.
Transformation efforts outlined in the sector prove the government’s determination to improve the economy and quality of life of the people.
In his speech at the launching ceremony, Najib said the services sector was the main driver of the economy and key generator of job opportunities in the country, and contributed 55 per cent to the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2014, providing eight million jobs.
He said the government was aware of the difficulty in planning and promoting the sector, adding that to overcome this, a special committee had been established.
“In addition, I also call on all parties, namely the agencies to work together to ensure the successful implementation of this plan and bring the level of economic development even higher.
“Finally, I stress the development of the services sector is rapidly expanding and will be enjoyed by all Malaysians,” he said in a recent post on his blog, NajibRazak.com today.
