GEORGE TOWN – A Sessions Court here has fixed Sept 29 for mention of the case involving four teenagers charged with assaulting a youth, who was with T. Nhaveen when he was beaten to death.
J. Ragesuthen and S. Gokulan, both 18, along with two other youths, aged 16 and 17, were jointly charged with causing grievous hurt to T. Previin, 19, using a helmet.
On June 19, all four pleaded not guilty to committing the offence between 11pm and midnight on June 9 in Jalan Kaki Bukit, Bukit Gelugor.
They were charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and a fine or whipping upon conviction.
Judge Irwan Suainbon fixed the new date for mention pending the case’s medical report when the case was brought up yesterday.
The four have also been jointly charged with murdering Nhaveen, 18, at the same time and place.
It was reported that Nhaveen was found unconscious around midnight on June 10.
He died at Penang Hospital on June 15.
The offence carries the mandatory death sentence on conviction.
